If someone other than Tony Stark had to sacrifice their life with the "snap" which MCU character would you have chosen and why?

 Captain America.

Because…

  1. His character’s arc had been well established and touched upon and both he and Tony had basically the same level of development.
  2. Tony’s suit helped him withstand the stones but Cap doesn’t have that. What he does have though is the super soldier serum, so the directors could get away with saying that that is how he would’ve been able to withstand the stones for a few seconds.
  3. He, Tony, and Thor were the original big three. We can’t choose Tony this time so that leaves Cap and Thor. Cap (like I said) has had a full arc throughout the movies and his purpose is becoming more of just a soldier figure who’s good at leadership. Thor on the other hand doesn’t know what he wants anymore since he’s given up being king, etc. Thor’s story isn’t finished whereas Cap doesn’t really have anywhere to go at this point (which is further evidenced by the directors making him old at the end of Endgame).
  4. Chris Evans (Cap) has been wanting to move on to other projects for a while now and Endgame was going to be his last movie anyways (I can’t speak towards future cameos, that would be up to him).
  5. He’s one of the few characters who actually deserve to have such a great role (for the audience to find fair and ‘enjoy’).
